Dolby Atmos 7.1.2 – All Ceiling Setup!

Yes! It is actually possible to have an excellent all-ceiling Home Cinema System

Using the correct products, you can achieve surprisingly good results.

Our objective was to create an immersive 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos setup using only ceiling speakers. Using conventional ceiling speakers was not an option since directivity would be a problem. After discussing it with the customer, we decided to use the Focal Dome speakers that can be ceiling mounted AND directed to the desirable areas so that we can have the immersive effect of Dolby Atmos.

Recreating this configuration with only ceiling mounted speakers was a challenge. Precise measurements were needed to make the setup as accurate as possible. Thankfully installing the Focal Dome speakers is very straightforward task due to their innovative installation technique. They can be easily mounted on the ceiling tilt to the desirable position.

Quite easy to drive and incredibly powerful for the size, the Focal Dome speakers did an excellent job partnered with the Yamaha Aventage AV Receiver. The Focal Sub Air subwoofer was conveniently hidden behind the couch which was proven to be a good position as well after the measurements we did.

So there you have it! An exceptional 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos setup utilizing only ceiling mounted speakers. An excellent alternative for when speakers cannot be installed on the walls or on the floor.
